Chidren’s Ministries

In the Children’s Ministry at Olivet Baptist Church we have one goal in mind, reaching children for Jesus. We do this in many ways. We are still very traditional in our Sunday morning approach. We meet at 9:30 for Sunday School that is led by teachers who have been servants for many years. They have a wealth of knowledge that each child will learn that God loves them and cares for them. The classes are divided by grades and the Bible lessons are written and taught on their level.

During our worship hour our children and adults meet all together in our church auditorium for a time of singing and praying. After we greet our visitors, the children that are ages kindergarten through the 5th grade are dismissed to attend a children’s church that is led by Pastor Bob. During the school year our Sunday evenings begin at 6:00 and are designed to inform our children about missions through are Royal Ambassodors and Girls Auxiliary classes. We have a fully regulation gym that we offer such activities as basketball, fall festivals, Easter egg hunts and skating. On Wednesday nights at 5:45 up.m., our children are taught the fundamentals of music in the Choirs in Action. They learn about rhythm and how to read music. Each year they learn two musicals that are presented to the congregation in the church and attend a music camp in the summer that consists of many of the Southern Baptist Chuches in our area. After a week long stay at Falls Creek, they give a top notch performance at the Lloyd Noble Arena located on the campus of Oklahoma Univesity. Our summers are filled with Vacation Bible School and our Fun in the Son Day Camp. We have several churches that spend a week with us and participate by leading in Bible studies, sports activities and going on field trips. When the fall approaches we work with local elementary and middle schools in providing mentoring through our Whiz Kid program that meets on Tuesday nights while school is in session. If your child is sports motivated, we offer a football and a basketball league for them to participate in. We also have a bus ministry that would be able to pick up your child and bring them to church if you live within a two mile radius of the church. Our church has been in the community for 99 years and continues to be a service to the Oklahoma City area. If you have any questions you may contact us through our e-mail or by phone and ask for Pastor Bob.
